Do you have weeds in your garden?

Making progress . . .

and transplanting perennials.

Weeds are currently abundant,
but we are making progress.

The Captain sprays them with Roundup in
early spring and this time of year I love working
in the garden, weeding and transplanting new perennial starts. {But I can't do too much with my reluctant tennis elbows.}

The foxglove seeds love to hide under
a plant or reseed themselves in the gravel path
and sprout where they have no room to grow.

I'm transplanting them where
they'll have room to grow and show their
beautiful blooms in June.
The overcast, rainy days here are
perfect for transplanting new starts.

Foxglove are tall so I plant them toward the
middle of the flower beds and leave
room for the shorter plants in front.
I also plant in groups of three for a bigger show of blooms.

If it's not too hot where you are and still raining,
now is a good time to transplant new perennials.
Just replant the new start and keep it
watered over the next week and you should
have a healthy transplant.

Hope you're enjoying your garden in spring!

  1. I have so much weeding to do but the blackflies are so thick this year they could carry you off.
and we need to much to keep the weeds down.
looks like you have been busy

  2. do I have weeds in my garden?? Oh no....none at all! yeah right! Not only do we have weeds but poison ivy that seems to spring up overnight and grow a foot tall before we see it. That's when the round up comes in handy. :) And I am like you, I always try to plant new plants and transplants on a cloudy day when they are calling for rain or I have been known to throw on that old raincoat and plant in the rain. :)

  3. We have had so much rain in TN, that I just get the worst. Now we are in a record heat wave. Oh well, next year. Just keeping the grass mowed.

  4. Weeds? Heavens yes! I love the bench photo, very nice.

  5. It's been too cold even for weeds here! Thanks for reminding me that I need to seed some foxgloves this year--so much to do, so little time.

  6. I like to do a garden walkabout in the morning with my coffee and pick weeds along the way. They don't get too far ahead of me until we get lots of rain. That's one big wheelbarrow of weeds you have!

  7. Weeds.....yep, Always! Thanks for linking to Cottage Flora Thursday's! Loving that bench too! oxox, tracie

  8. Lovely blog here! So glad you shared with us at the Tuesday Garden Party. I love my foxglove, too, and like to transplant they throughout the garden. :-)
