Have you ever pressed flowers?

I'm planning to use these flowers on an online craft day
with my daughter and granddaughter in New York.

It's easy to do.
You can read the directions below
if you want to press some of your own.

How to Press Flowers

1. Choose flowers with dry, fresh blooms (not faded/pick midday so they have no dew or moisture)
2. Lay flat or face down between layers of parchment paper or waxed paper
3. Place inside a large, heavy book, and place another book on top for more weight (you can press several flowers placed throughout the book)
4. Check in about two weeks; ready to use when dry
To make a picture of the flowers, use tweezers to place on card stock or other paper, apply small dabs of Aleene's Tacky Glue with a small paint brush and place in a frame with glass.

Enjoy!

Old suitcase lined with vintage wallpaper

Here's the suitcase I lined with some vintage wallpaper we
purchased in Brooklyn. Loving this old wallpaper!

The old lining had already been removed from this suitcase,
so it was a perfect candidate,
and the paper coordinates beautifully
with the exterior and bakelite handle.

It's been a long break . . . from blogging.
  I recently retired . . .
from managing a non-profit thrift store
and job coaching residents from a family shelter.
It was a dream job for me. I really enjoyed working
with the residents and helping them gain valuable job experience.

On a personal note, our new baby grandson was born
three weeks ago . . .

Welcome Corbin Huntley

We also have a seven year old granddaughter in Brooklyn,

Tayvee Lena

So that's where we are in life . . .
enjoying our family and grandkids . . . working in the garden
. . . shopping and selling vintage wares at local flea markets,
{the Christine Palmer Antique & Collectibles Show at the Portland Expo in July,
Plucky Maidens Junk Fest at Oak's Amusement Park in Portland in July,
and the Christmas Junk Fest at the Portland Oregon Convention Center in November}
Our business is Saltbox Treasures. You can also find us on Facebook
and on Instagram starting in June.

If you would like to follow along on this blog,
we will be posting about our vintage business travels and purchases,
sharing repurposed projects and a few of our remodeling
 and interior design projects.
You can also follow our home/interior design projects on Houzz.com,
and click on the Houzz button at right to see some of our past projects.

My husband and I find joy in the hunt in shopping for unique vintage treasures
from the east coast to the west coast and giving new life to old items,
repurposing them into one-of-a-kind pieces.

We specialize in true vintage decor and furniture for your home . . .
from rusty, industrial, to shabby.

We may have items to sell on eBay and Etsy in the very near future.
We are stocked with merchandise and look forward to our first summer
show at the Antique Expo in July.

We hope to see you at one of our shows.
