TRASH TO TREASURE . . . Potting Bench

Today I want to share my potting bench table. My hubby picked it up for free off craiglist ~ an old vintage yellow, peely paint, drop leaf kitchen table that looked like it had been used in someone's garage. I know rustic is in, but I just didn't have a spot for this table in the house. So. . .  I thought what about a potting bench? . . . the size is right, and I can flip up the back side . . . hang my knee cushion on the side . . . . and this is how it turned out.

We just flipped up the back side drop leaf with L brackets.
It's great that the front leaf can be down or up for larger projects.

Some heart shaped rocks found on walks

My daughter's cat, Blackberry, just had to get in the photo shoot;
she loves to help me with any project . . .

and smell the roses

I love it. Right now I'm using it to make fall wreaths and will use it to make Christmas wreaths.

Easy to do if you find a drop leaf table.

Thanks for visiting. Have a great weekend!

  2. What a gorgeous find Julie and although I would have probably tried to squeeze it in somewhere (heck knows I have to turn sideways to get down my hall now) I do love what you ended up doing with it. Great idea!

  3. Super idea! I have a great potting shed, but I still find myself needing an outdoor table near the hose. I will certainly be on the look out for one of these drop leaf tables.

  5. Dear Julie, How J, my gardener/handyman would love to have this potting table in the Alpine House where he spends much of his time. Too much time, in my view!! Such an excellent way to recycle an old table.

    Blackberry is adorable. I wish he were mine. Have a lovely weekend.

  10. What a great way to reuse a drop leaf table. I always enjoy seeing what people come up with when repurposing pieces of furniture. My kittie loves to find her way in to my pictures too!

  12. Hi Julie, this really IS a great idea. I wouldn't have thought of turning the leaf up like that. Having a potting bench would really help me be more organized, I always have to go hunt down my yard tools and I just now found my knee pad that I looked for all summer, LOL! Thanks for linking up for VIF, hope you're haveing a wonderful weekend,
    xo,
    Debra
