Chenille Trash to Treasure . . .

What can you do with an old bedspread that has some tears or holes? . . . . .

I was excited to get this vintage white chenille bedspread from a relative but was sad to see that it had some tears and holes. Since it could no longer be used as a bedspread, I decided to cut it up and make pillows.  I ripped off the fringe and added it to the pillow. I'm also going to use it to cover a bench pad in our guest room.  ~ A great way to repurpose vintage bedspreads or fabrics that may be damaged.

Thanks for checking out this trash to treasure.

[In a future blog, I will have a tutorial on how to make pillows.]

  1. That is a great idea! I'm going to follow so I can see the tutorial. I have a bunch of vintage chenille and matelasse blankets. I'd like to make some of the matelasse blankets into throw blankets, too. Any ideas for that?

  12. Hello Julie....I found your blog through my BFF Laurie over at Heaven's Walk. LOVE the pillow, and the way you added the fringe to the border.

  13. The pillow is so pretty! I have been looking out for some vintage chenille spreads but I haven't come across any. They seem to be hard to find around here but I'd really love to find some!
